CAMPUS DELAY / BUFFER
It’s important to note that even though there are staggered times for the campuses starting 5 minutes after the hour, this is to account for the stream delay AND amount of buffer that is needed at the campuses.
The recommendation for a stable stream is to run 5 minutes of buffer. 5 minutes of buffer + 1 minute of encoding delay = 6 minutes minimum time closest to live. For example, if Vacaville’s sermon starts at :35, the campuses should plan on being taking the stream at :41. (These times are dependent on Vacaville’s worship/transition time)
One thing to note: if campuses are running with less than the recommended buffer, it introduces more possibilities for anomalies or interruptions of service.
See timeline illustration to view delay. and estimated times.
